A traffic cop gives tickets out right? They also look into the eyes of the dead

A Beautiful Sunday morning in Devon.  I’m single crewed with guns in the safe and some traffic and Armed units out and about.  We are dual rolled in Devon and Cornwall.  Blessed with a lower crime rate than many but just as many fast roads so Traffic and Armed response go hand in hand.

10 o’clock and the scenery is passing much more quickly as I am on  my way to a collision between a car and a pedestrian.  It’s in a car park so can’t be too bad surely.  My armed response is there.  I strain at the radio to hear their tone of voice.  Hard as nails when they need to be, but soft as pussy cats when you bring in humanity, real people and families.

A Diversion from my day to day life

Nothing worse than driving up to a closed road with no explanation. Nothing worse than driving past a scene at 4mph after a 2 hour wait to find 6 police officers doing nothing with two on their mobiles. Don’t they realise I have missed my appointment and now have to re arrange it.  Don’t they realise I have missed my dinner I wanted with my family. Christ, what is this world coming to. Perhaps they could do with some more cuts if they can’t be bothered to do simple things like put diversion signs out for people, or get a shifty on so I could have done the things I wanted.

Well strap yourself in, we are going on a bumpy ride.

Seat Belts – Any of my business?

Q – Haven’t you got anything better to do?

A – At this point in time  Sir, No.

Q – Why don’t you arrest some Murderers and rapists instead of picking on innocent motorists such as myself?

A  –  If you know of where any are Sir, I will get on to it straight away, however there are far more people killed through Road Collisions every year than there are murdered, so where do you think my time is best spent at the moment?
